Web Site re-launched

Web Site re-launched

A new “Back to the Front” website has been designed, built and launched. The site provides details of upcoming events, activities, and news updates, and the feed-back sectioncan be used to give us your views of the programme. Later in 2018 the web-site will include an archive of the project’s Great War research of the local men and women that served during the conflict, and the stories of the local villages during the four years of War.

Very successful Volunteer Evening

Very successful Volunteer Evening

Over twenty volunteers have stepped forward to support the “Back to the Front” Project, and many of them met up with members of the Project Team at a Volunteers’ Evening at the Abbots Langley Parish Council Chamber on Tuesday 30th January. Project Leader Roger Yapp gave everyone an overview of the project and explained the volunteering opportunities available during the coming year. The project still needs more help. Register interest and find out more by contacting the Project Team by using the “Get Involved” link on the web site Home Page.

Grant Applications

Grant Applications

The “Back to the Front” Project is planning over twenty events in 2018 to commemorate those from the local area that served in the Great War between 1914-1918. Grant applications have been made to support funding for specific project events and activities. A major grant application has been made to the Heritage Lottery Fund through its First World War Centenary scheme – “the First World War, Then and Now”. An application has also been submitted to the Abbots Langley Parish Council’s “Financial Grants Scheme”, to support the publishing of a book of the seven hundred and twenty local soldiers’ stories. The outcome of these applications is expected in the coming weeks
